I am the author of the scholarly studies Masculinity, Anti-Semitism and Early Modern English Literature (Ashgate, 2004, Routledge paperback 2016) and Shakespeare, Adaptation, Psychoanalysis: Better Than New (Routledge, 2017) as well as the memoir Big Sid’s Vincati (Penguin hardback, 2009; Plume paperback, 2010; Plume reprint, 2010). With Julia Lupton and Douglas Brooks, I edited the essay collection Shakespeare After 9/11 (Mellen, 2011), the first book length study of the subject. With degrees from Duke University, New York University, and Dartmouth College, I teach classes in English Literature (especially in the Renaissance), as well as in creative writing (nonfiction), theory, and Jewish American Literature. I am also a Phi Beta Kappa member and a member of the Board of Directors of the Savage Rose Theatre Company in Louisville.

My memoir Big Sid’s Vincati was reviewed in The New York Times (by Stanley Fish) and featured in the Louisville Courier JournalThe Kansas City Star, The Sacramento Bee, Motorcyclist, WKU-PBS’s Mainstreet, Jay Leno’s Garage and Discovery Channel’s Cafe Race.
